How to get the most from it

Lead with the title you want

Recruiters search LinkedIn by job title. Put the title you are aiming for, or your current one, in the first few words.

Add your specialty

A specialty or industry ("for B2B SaaS", "in healthcare") separates you from everyone else with the same title.

Skip the buzzwords

Words like "passionate", "guru" and "results-driven" take up space without telling anyone what you do.

Questions

How long can a LinkedIn headline be?

Up to 220 characters. Only the first part shows in search results and comments, so put the most important words first.

Should my headline match my resume?

It should agree with it. Use the same target title on both so recruiters see one clear story.
